FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

So, you call them outdoor cushions, but can I use them indoors?

Yes. Absolutely! Although our Love Your Outdoor cushion range has been designed and made for use in Australia’s raw outdoor environment, those same hardwearing properties make them ideal for indoor environments too – especially those homes with pets and kids or high traffic commercial spaces like cafes, hotels or waiting rooms.

What properties make your cushions last and look good for longer?

  • Fantastic colourfastness to light, which means they don't fade easily
  • The Sunproof™ olefin fabric is treated to make it stain and water resistant
  • Covers zip off easily and are machine washable for easy laundering
  • ♻️ Sunproof™ fabrics are made from 100% solution dyed olefin, making them environmentally friendly, and 100% recyclable
  • They are all Oeko-Tex certified Class 1 – which means that they are free from substances that maybe harmful to you and your family
  • Love Your Outdoor cushions use both foam and dacron filling to provide a long lasting, comfortable feel

 Environmentally Friendly

Our cushions use premium solution dyed olefin yarn. Solution dyeing is a clean manufacturing process as the colour is added before the yarn is extruded. Eliminating waste effluents which may pollute air and water. 100% recyclable.

 Hygiene Protection

Sunproof® fabric is treated with sanitized product for hygiene protection. This product inhibits microbial developments, mould and algae.

High UV Protection

Tested and evaluated by internationally recognized research and service centre, the Hohenstein Institute in Germany, Sunproof® fabric has obtained a UV standard 801 certificate, meaning it is capable of blocking more than 97% UV rays.

No Harmful Substances

Oeko-Tex certified class 1, meaning the fabrics are tested to be free of substances which might be harmful to humans and the environment. Okeo-Tex is the world’s leading eco label for textiles.

What is your refund policy?

I'd like to buy in bulk, do you offer discounts for large orders?

Let’s talk. Please contact us directly by sending an email to hello@loveyouroutdoor.com.au to discuss large orders.

Are you an established company?

Yes. Love Your Outdoor is a subsidiary of Embellish Imports. Our family has been importing outdoor furniture, cushions and accessories for more than 25 years. We are a small business, dedicated to delivering the best products and customer service possible. Our warehouse is located at 51 Steel Street, Capalaba, Queensland, 4179.

Will your cushions fade?

Short answer:  Not quickly, not noticeably. With common-sense cushion care applied.

Long answer: Our cushions are tested and evaluated by internationally recognized research and service centre, the Hohenstein Institute in Germany, Sunproof® fabric has obtained a UV standard 801 certificate, meaning it is capable of blocking more than 97% UV rays.

Also, SUNPROOF™ fabrics are machine woven from 100% solution dyed olefin yarn, meaning the colour penetrates all the way through the thread in the dyeing process, not just coating the surface. These amazing fabrics pass American Standard ASTM G53 - 96 proving high performance of the fabric against natural weather conditions.

Basically this means that the blue you purchase in 2020 will be recognisably the same blue you’ll be looking at in 2021 and 2022, not a faded, washed out colour that once looked a little bit like the blue you fell in love with.

Of course, everything fades over time, and environmental and chemical factors can impact how quickly or slowly this occurs.

The better you look after your cushions (soring them when not in use, giving them a cold wash within a reasonable timeframe if they get soiled), the longer they will continue to look good.

My cushions have a stain. How do I clean them?

Life happens! And so do stains on your favourite cushions. But happily, 99% of stains are fairly easily removable from our Sunproof cushion fabrics. For general cleaning, simply whip the cover off and pop it in the washing machine on a cold cycle.

If that doesn’t work, or if you have a specific, persistant stain, please refer to this handy table.

Stain removal agents should only be worked in with a clean, damp and absorbent cloth.

*Treat any residue as indicated.

  • A. Treat with a normal commercial oxidative bleaching agent.
  • B. Fresh stains: treat with an alkaline cleaning agent. Rinse off immediately - see below.
  • C. Dried-in marks: treat with an enzyme agent. Note reaction time, wipe off gently.
  • D. Treat with an agent containing solvent, using manual method as well (scrape off, beat lightly, vacuum clean when completely dry).
  • E. Treat with dye-fixing agent. Possibly treat afterward with an oxygen bleaching agent.
  • F. Fresh stain: treat with weak solution of organic acid (slightly acidic cleaning agent). Rinse off immediately - see below.
  • G. Dried-in marks: treat with a normal oxidative bleaching agent.
  • H. Treat with a commercial rust remover or acidic stain remover. Rinse off immediately - see below.
  • I.   Cut out burnt or melt stains. Take a piece of fabric of the same size - if none is available take it from a part of the material that is less visible - and stick in from the left with double sided tape.

After-treatment: After each cleaning we recommended the use of spray extraction to remove any edge markings/residual cleaning agent.

General: These are only general cleaning recommendations that cannot guarantee 100% removal of stains. We recommended in all cases that you consult a professional cleaner.

Is my cushion machine washable?

The cushion cover ONLY is machine washable. The material is treated to make it stain and water resistant, and the covers zip off easily and are machine washable for easy maintenance. Do not wash the inner cushion filling.

SUNPROOF™ Fabrics – Washing Instructions**

Acrylic Dyed Solution Materials

Spot clean any spills immediately to avoid staining. Do not use solvent type cleaners, do not dry clean, do not tumble dry.

Hand washing: Start by removing the cover from the outdoor cushion and hand wash with ¼ cup mild soap per gallon of water. Use a sponge or soft bristle brush to lightly agitate stain. Rinse thoroughly allowing fabric to air dry. Slip on cushion when near fully dry for easy reapplication.

Machine washing: First remove the cover and close any zippers. Use COLD water wash with a mild laundry detergent. Remove from wash and allow the fabric to air dry. Slip on cushion when near fully dry for easy reapplication.

**remember it is always better to clean the entire cover/ surface or fabric to avoid water rings and stains.

Bleach (any type) can be used as required: diluted 1 part bleach to 100 parts water.

What is Common-sense Cushion Care?

Despite the durability of the fabrics we use to make our cushions, we recommend customers use common-sense in caring for their cushions to ensure the longest lifespan possible. This includes storing cushions when not in use to maximise their lifespan, either in a cushion or storage box or another location protected from the elements. Do not store cushions when they are wet.

Also avoid putting your cushions to close to heaters, braziers or fire pits in winter. Olefin fabric is sensitive to heat. Being a synthetic fibre—it can melt.
